People eager to delve into the past and find out more about how to research their family tree can do so through a free online session taking place this month.
Durham County Record Office is currently unable to run its usual family history courses due to coronavirus but is offering free online taster sessions, aimed at people who’ve thought about tracing their ancestors but are wondering what would be involved or where to get started.
The event will highlight some of the sources that family historians use and show how archives held at the Record Office can help in their search.
There will be two sessions taking place on Tuesday 17 November, with one held from 10am to 11am and another from 6pm to 7pm.
Organisers are advising advance booking as there are limited places available.
To book a place, visit the Record Office online shop at: https://recordofficeshop.durham.gov.uk/pgEventResult
The booking confirmation email contains instructions on how to join the online event.
The Record Office plans to run more detailed introductory sessions on tracing family history in the New Year.
