The Community Action Team (CAT) will be working in Wheatley Hill from 10th October 2022 until 24th December 2022 to tackle local environmental and housing issues to improve health and promote healthier lifestyles.
Let them know your views and help them decide the priorities for the project by
filling in the ‘Wheatley Hill Your Community Your Voice’ survey or coming along to the resident engagement sessions which are taking place:
- Tuesday 11 October 2022 from 10am-1pm – Greenhills Centre, (linking with the Cree Club)
- Wednesday 19 October 2022 from 6pm-7.30pm – Wheatley Hill Workmens Social Club (linking with the Mother’s Club)
Two resident surgeries are planned for:
- Wednesday 16 November – 6pm-7.30pm Greenhills Centre
- Friday 18 November from 10am-12 noon Greenhills Centre
During the project the CAT will be working with partners already working in the area, including the Neighbourhood Wardens, Police, Fire & Rescue Service, and the Selective Licensing team. From the 1 April 2022, Selective Licensing came into force in areas of Wheatley Hill. This means landlords who rent out property in the area need to apply to the council for a licence. Further information can be found at

As part of this project, the CAT are working with Community Peer Mentors who are able to help support vulnerable and isolated people. In addition to this the team are also accepting referrals in relation to ASB and those people suffering from alcohol and substance misuse. They are part of the Durham Police and Crime Commissioners Office, for County Durham and Darlington. They offer specific support which is unique and bespoke for every client. If you feel you, or a friend or family member, would benefit from this support please
contact Joanne Redman on Tel: 07359069913 or Joanne.Redman@durham.police.uk.
Further information will be distributed at the end of the action period with information about the project. In the meantime, if you would like to find out about the priorities chosen and other activities taking place, please view the website: www.durham.gov.uk/cat or join the mailing list for updates during the 11 week programme.
